Lime for Steel & Metallurgy
Fluxing and slag chemistry in steel and ferro-alloy production.
The application
What lime does in steel & metallurgy
Lime is the primary flux in steelmaking. It combines with silica and other impurities in the melt to form a fluid slag that carries them out of the bath, and it holds slag basicity where the process needs it. Consistency matters more than headline purity here: a fluctuating feed forces the melt shop to keep re-trimming.
Where it is used

- 02Slag basicity control and desulphurisation
- 03Sinter and pellet plant binder duty
- 04Refractory and secondary metallurgy applications
